Short but sweet escape at Southwinds Resort, Laguna

by , in

After an hour of driving, we finally set our feet in our short but sweet escape to Southwinds Resort, in Laguna.

Southwinds Resort is located at foot of the legendary Mount Makiling. It’s a nice place to chill and get off from the busy ambiance in the office. It has 5 nice pools (5ft, 4ft, and 3ft and (2) Kiddie Pool), rooms for couples and families, a videoke, and a convenient store.

Before going in, we first settled our bills at the lounge area. Here are their rates (as of December 7, 2012)

Practice Run at Track 30th

by , in

Practice is essential if you want success in your plans. And since we (sister and I) planned to succeed in our first 5K Red Crab Run, practice must be in our minds and hearts. We started it last week at Track 30th in BGC Taguig. It’s my second time there but the amazing feeling of seeing it for the first time is still with me.

Saud, One of the Philippine’s finest beach

by , in

“Unforgettable”-defines the very first time my eyes wander on Saud Beach at Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte. I can’t imagine myself as I ran toward white fine sand and marvel at pristine sea water. Never can I contain the beauty I am seeing and that moment honestly took my breath away,.

IMG_6256

In a snap of a finger, I took as many shots as I can just so I can show my family when I come back, how beautiful the place was. But regretfully I can say that photos don’t bring justice to the exquisiteness it offers. No wonder its one of the Country’s finest beach.

Whew, am really speechless, after six hours of travel under bright sunny day, I can say “really worth it”. From City of Laoag to town of Pagudpud,Ilocos Norte there we met Biser, the tricycle driver you can hire for a price of 600 Php. He shall then bring you to the following destinations,

1. Saud Beach 2. Kabigan Falls 3. Patapat Viaduct 3. Agua Grande 4. Paraiso ni Anton 5. Timmangtang Rock Formation 6. Bantay Abot Cave 7. Dos Hermanos Island 8. Blue Lagoon

It took us about 7 hours to complete the North tour listed above. We started around 9 am and ended past 3 in the afternoon.

The Giant Wind Turbines at Bangui, Ilocos Norte

by , in
What if one morning, when you open your eyes, this is the first sight that awakened you..

What an eye opener right?

This scene really made me stand in awe. And I can’t even believe that there is such beauty… It’s like asking myself, Am I in heaven?

Ladies and gentlemen, would like to present to you, the Giant Wind Turbines of Northern Philippines a.k.a Bangui Windmills

Want to know The History?

Before, it is 15 windmills but as I counted it, there are 19 windmills, if I counted it right but nah, Wikipedia says there were 20 units of 70-meter high wind turbines (ground level to the center of the nacelle), while each blade has a length of 41 meters, giving a rotor diameter of 82 meters and a windswept area of 5,821 sq.m., arranged on a single row along a nine-kilometer Bangui Bay, each spaced at approximately 326 meters apart facing the South China Sea.

Whoa, imagine that sizes?

Plus, being the first wind farm in the Philippines as well as the largest wind power project in the Southeast Asia, giving an installed capacity of 1.65-MW wind turbine generator per tower.

And let’s not forget to give credit to North Wind Power Dev’t Corp. who showed effort to develop our own energy sources (renewable energy sources) and prevent dependence on imported oil, increasing the use of alternative fuels for energy efficiency and conservation programs.

See how it helps local people living there. Their power expense was being trimmed down by 7 % :-)
How I do wish project (wind power production) such as this would increase.

Enough with the history, of course we wanted so much you yourself to experience this magnificent beauty.

So, How Can You Get There? Easy, just follow this:

1.      1.  If you are coming from Manila, You can get ticket from bus stations going to Laoag, Ilocos Norte

Note: from the road where the jeep dropped us,you can already see the  blades of
